We will be hosting another double elimination dueling tree competition!
The tree will be at 10 yards and shooters will go head to head on the tree. The last person standing after a dual elimination bracket is the champion!
To enter you must have, or rent, a handgun in a standard handgun caliber (no rifle cartridges, velocity limited to 1600fps). We recommend a minimum caliber of 9mm and when shooting 9mm we have found that heavier (147gr) ammunition moves the plates more reliably. Full rules below.
Dueling Tree Rules
Cost is $15 for pre-registration, $20 for registration the day of the event
Phone registrations are accepted (call 765-838-0700 during business hours)
Participant must be 18 years of age or older or 10 years of age or older and accompanied by a supervising adult (participant must be able to follow safety rules and shoot safely regardless of age)
Participants must be on site by 6:30pm to facilitate scheduling of the matches
Competition will begin at 7:00pm
Standard double elimination tournament, each participant must lose twice to be disqualified
Handgun may be provided by the participant or rented from Applied Ballistics (if using a rental gun you must purchase ammunition from Applied Ballsitics)
Standard straight wall pistol caliber handguns are permitted
No necked cartridges
No cartridges that exceed 1600fps
No optics (including laser sights)
No compensators, brakes, or ported barrels
Holsters and magazine carriers are not required but are permitted
Applied Ballistics staff will officiate all matches
All range safety rules apply
Participants can be disqualified for unsafe practices at the discretion of Applied Ballistics staff
Participants begin with their handgun unloaded on the table (no magazine touching the gun, slide forward or closed empty cylinder), their hands cannot be touching the gun or loading device, all loading devices on table
Participants may begin each match with up to 8 rounds of ammunition in the handgun with one spare reload of 8 additional rounds (16 rounds total) or they may begin with 6 rounds in the gun with two spare reloads of 6 rounds each (18 rounds total) at the participant’s discretion
All participants will have unloaded firearms at all times unless they are on the firing line and have been given the command to “load and make ready”
Prior to beginning the match staff will call “line ready”
If a participant is not ready when “line ready” is called it is the responsibility of the participant to safely make the staff aware that they need additional time
Staff will give the command “fire” to begin the match
There are no alibis, if the participant experiences a malfunction they can either clear it safely and continue or concede the match
The match is concluded when one side of the dueling tree is completely cleared or both shooters are out of ammunition
The match is over when it is called by staff
Staff will call either “winner left” or “winner right” to designate the end of the match
There will be no appeals, the staff member officiating the match has final say regarding the outcome
All participants accept that shooting steel targets at close range poses an enhanced risk of bullet fragments ricocheting and contacting anyone in the shooting bay
Eye and ear protection is required at all times during the competition for anyone in the shooting bay, regardless of whether they are shooting or spectating
