Competitive shooting is a passion for us here at Applied Ballistics. Because of that, we are often asked what resources are available for someone who is interested in trying their hand at competitive shooting. The typical answer has always been “come to a match” but many people just aren’t comfortable doing that without some training beforehand. Unfortunately, that means quite a few shooters wind up missing out on a fun and fulfilling experience.
With that in mind, we decided to design a course that would provide a foundation for anyone looking to shoot competitively. This course will familiarize students with equipment and safety requirements, range etiquette, and basic instruction on how to shoot a course of fire. Students will finish this class with all the information they need to participate in their first match.
The course will be taught by certified instructors that are also very experienced competitive shooters. Being a basic course the focus will not be on scoring, it will be on the mechanics necessary to navigate a match, but our instructors will answer questions and provide tips that will also help new shooters be more competitive and comfortable during a match.
Students will need a serviceable handgun in 9mm or larger caliber, a strong side hip holster, at least two magazines, and at least one belt mounted magazine pouch. Rental equipment is available at an additional cost if the student doesn’t have the necessary equipment. If you have questions regarding equipment please email aaron@applied-ballistics.com before registering for the class.
